Show Desktop Button

Windows Vista/XP Show Desktop IconThe ‘Show Desktop’ icon was part of Windows since Windows 95, it’s usually in the Quick Lunch toolbar and when you click it all the windows are minimized and you can see your Desktop. It’s a great way to access your Desktop quickly, all it takes is a mouse click.
But unlike previous versions of Windows the familiar ‘Show Desktop’ icon is not placed on the Quick Lunch toolbar because Windows 7 doesn’t have the Quick Lunch toolbar built in (But it can be added). The Show Desktop icon is now a rectangle shaped button at the end of the Taskbar.

Windwos 7 Show Desktop <- This rectangle is the Show Desktop button, click it to get to your Desktop. Another click will return you to the previous windows display. If you hover for a few seconds over the button without clicking it, the Desktop will be displayed until you move the mouse mouse away from the ‘Show Desktop’ button, this is a good way to take a quick look the Desktop.

Using a keyboard shortcut to display the desktop
If you don’t want to use your mouse you can use a keyboard shortcut instead, press down the Windows Key + D and you will activate the Show Desktop function.
